Absolute Throwdown at JJF. Oh Yeah Kingfish Played My Guitar

I had an EPIC time at Red’s in Clarksdale, MS. This was my first Juke Joint Fest since covid. So, I missed two years of JJF so it was on with a vengeance. I had my right-hand harp man, Cody Cotton, with me. The drive from Autin is a little further than Dallas but prettier. We got there Thursday and jumped right into gear over at Red’s with the great RL Boyce, Carlos Elliot Junior and Bobby Gentilo.

We had a great day Friday of all the music, especially Deak Harp, Jesse Cotton Stone, and the ever-amazing Bill Abel who wrote the liner notes for my Hill Country Foot Stomp CD. We closed out the evening at The Bluesberry Cafe with Robert Kimbrough and Duwayne Burnside on stage. This was the first time my good friend, Robert Kimbrough and I had seen each other since Covid.

Junior Kimbrough’s Juke Joint on Google Earth

Few people know that you can scrub back in time on Google Earth revealing all kinds of fun historical stuff. I even found Hitler's lair before we bombed it into oblivion (mess with the US and Allies and find out). I went through the years and found Junior's Juke Joint outside of Holly Springs, Mississippi. Here is a Google Earth breakdown. Enjoy.
